Under the order of December 20, 2024 in COPA v Wright (IL-2021-000019), his 12-month committal was suspended until December 20, 2026, and the warrant of committal is discharged on December 21, 2026, provided he commits no further breach of the July 16, 2024 Final Order. Technically he is already free to travel and to do almost anything he pleases. His only remaining obligation is compliance with that order.\r\nI was part of that record. On December 11, 2024, Dr Wright filed his Motion for Judicial Recusal, supported by my sworn affidavit, the Affidavit of Gavin Gregory Mehl. Mr Justice Mellor addressed my affidavit directly, by name, at paragraphs 8 through 16 of his December 19, 2024 judgment, [2024] EWHC 3315 (Ch). His judgment quotes the David Pearce post I put into evidence: \"Mellor: I met him at the COPA event. He did ask about when the judgment was coming out. I did say I was aiming for May 9. Draft Judgment was sent out on May 10.\" The judge did not dispute that the meeting or that conversation happened. He only insisted the event was a CIPA event, not a COPA event, and rejected the bias allegation. In my view, a judge discussing the timing of a pending judgment with a commentator covering the case is exactly the kind of conduct that required disqualification, and a disqualified judge has no jurisdiction to make the rulings that followed.\r\nThat said, CSW is not under any scrutiny today. In fact, he is freer now than he has ever been, because he is no longer under the pressure of active litigation. That freedom becomes complete when the warrant discharges this December.
